What a lovely change of pace this fabulous elopement with Chris and Julia, was. A fantastic opportunity to photograph at a new venue, the Hummingbird Barn, and get to know the owner a bit and the process they went through to make their dream a reality.
We pulled up early, as we usually do, to do a meet and greet with Krystal (the owner) and get a guided tour in a golf cart before our couple arrived. (The property has all kinds of neat little pockets and spaces that really lend themselves to creative photos and allow for a romantic vision for all those who are lucky enough to get the chance to work there.) Shortly after our tour, Julia and Chris arrived. After cordial greetings and all of us introducing ourselves, Julia let us in on a little bit of a secret. Long before she reached out to hire us as their photographer, she had saved our information from a Facebook post that had caught her attention. It really was flattering. Knowing that someone noticed our work and saved the post for later because she intended to eventually contact us when the time was right.
We had recommended a late day/sunset session, as part of their plans. Earlier in the day they would be wed in a private ceremony, offsite, with just the two of them at a courthouse. We took our time and meandered around the property with them, stopping at the spots we'd pre-scouted and had fallen in love with. As the sun slowly began to set, we were able to play a little bit with some off camera flash and creative lighting. Ending our evening on the lit up, outdoor patio.
Congratulations to Chris and Julia!
